A slow day in library land, but a good day because it gives us an opportunity to tackle on-going projects! One of those projects?
"Weeding" books from our shelves. (I love this word, it always reminds me of my flower garden!) Weeding is as cyclic as the changing seasons and it entails removing books that no longer circulate. And since circulation is an important stat, we stay mindful about what is and isn't being checked out. Most of the time it's a no-
brainer... some of these books haven't been touched in
years, let alone checked out; however, other times we make the decision to send a book to be packed in the box that truly is a good read, but not worthy enough to take up space on our shelves. Space is limited, good books continue to be published, and it forces us to make decisions so current and timely material is readily available. Who knew working in a library would be so full of tough decisions!!
